About Lipedema Help
Lipedema Help is an independent, research-driven website built by a small editorial team who are not physicians. Every claim is sourced to a named authority. Our mission: clear, honest information so no woman spends years being told it is her fault.
Who we are
Lipedema Help is an independent information resource — not a clinic, not a garment brand, not a surgery provider. We are a small editorial team of informed non-clinicians who research lipedema rigorously and write about it clearly.
We are not physicians. We do not diagnose, treat, or give medical advice. What we do: we read the research, track the guidelines, cite our sources, and present the information in plain language so that women living with lipedema — and the people who care about them — can understand what is happening in their bodies and make informed conversations with their doctors.
Our promise to you
Every medical claim on this site is sourced to a named authority — a peer-reviewed study, an official guideline, or a major medical institution. We link our sources so you can check them yourself. We never fabricate credentials or imply clinical expertise we do not have.
Our mission
Lipedema affects an estimated 11 % of women worldwide, yet the average diagnostic delay is more than a decade. Women are routinely told their painful, resistant fat is a willpower problem. That is wrong, and it has real consequences.
Our mission is simple: give every woman who suspects she has lipedema the clear, honest, well-sourced information she needs — so she can walk into a doctor's appointment informed, ask the right questions, and stop blaming herself.
- Plain-language explanations of what lipedema is, how it is staged, and how it differs from obesity or cellulite.
- Honest coverage of every treatment option — what the evidence says, what it does not.
- Practical tools: symptom checkers, stage finders, garment guides.
- Independence: we do not sell surgery, and we do not promote any single garment brand.
Our independence
We earn a small commission when readers buy through affiliate links on this site (compression garments, books). That commission never influences which products or treatments we recommend — we evaluate on clinical merit across brands. Our full funding model is explained on our How We're Funded page.
We do not accept paid placements, sponsored content, or payment from surgeons or clinics. Our editorial decisions are made independently.
